Abstract

Curriculum development is often carried out in the world of education as an effort to reform and improve education in Indonesia. Curriculum is an important part of education today. The Merdeka Curriculum is a development and improvement on the previous curriculum, namely the 2013 Curriculum or commonly referred to as Kurtilas. The Merdeka Curriculum contains changes, one of which is in subjects that were previously thematic based by combining existing subjects into a single unit in the form of a theme, now divided into several subjects. This update certainly provides new challenges for class teachers who have implemented the Independent Curriculum. It is still common to find teachers who experience difficulties in applying subjects to the learning process, one of which is Science (Natural Sciences and Social Sciences). The research method used is qualitative. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interviews and documentation on grade 4 teachers in several elementary schools. This research is aimed at finding out the problems and obstacles teachers have in implementing science and science learning in Grade 4 in elementary schools by interviewing Grade 4 teachers in several schools. The research method used is qualitative. The data collection techniques used in this research were observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the data obtained are that there are several science problems in elementary school students which are caused by various factors including internal factors and external factors. Internal factors consist of students' lack of interest in learning science and science, low student learning motivation due to lack of learning support from parents or the surrounding environment, students' different learning abilities. Meanwhile, external factors consist of learning methods that are considered monotonous so that students get bored easily, learning models that are not appropriate, and the learning media used are less interesting.
